YouthTruth

Schools are required by the California Department of Education to administer a climate survey regularly to assess things like mental health, safety, and school climate. Cloverdale Unified School District partners with YouthTruth every year to conduct a student and family survey to hear feedback from you and your child about what we are doing well, and how we can improve. The Youth Truth survey is used by virtually all districts in Sonoma County, which also allows CUSD to work with the County Office of Education and other local districts to look at trends in our county. The Youth Truth survey has been used as our school climate survey for several years, with the high school being in the 6th year of administration and Jefferson being in its third year of administration.

The YouthTruth Student Survey is a nationally recognized survey used in hundreds of schools and districts across the country, surveying hundreds of thousands of students. Our school, other schools, and researchers may use such information for developing plans to help schools and teachers improve. The survey asks students about their experiences in the school and with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for the future. Survey questions are age dependent and as such vary dependent on school site and grade level. For more general information about this survey as well as information about the Youth Truth organization, please visit http://youthtruthsurvey.org.

This year’s survey will be given between January 9-January 26th in grades 3rd thru 12th. Although we want to hear from all students, participation in this survey is voluntary. Your child’s ratings are anonymous and will not be identified in any reports. Students may skip a question and/or mark decline to state for any or all of the questions. In addition, students may submit the survey at any point even if they have not reached the end of the survey questions. Cloverdale Unified strives to provide transparency in all interactions with students and families and as a result have this year’s survey questions available here for your review: YouthTruth Student Survey.
